BREED INFORMATION

Our goal is to breed quality puppies that represent the Portuguese Water Dog's zest for life. Dogs that are successful in multiple working venues; water work, obedience, agility, conformation, and most of all, wonderful companions and family pets.

We have been dedicated to this breed since 1999.

We have produced several performance titled water dogs, as well as Conformation Bench Champions.

Our "Murphy" was ranked in the top 25 Portuguese Water Dogs Nationwide in 2005. He went on to win an Award of Merit at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show Owner/Handled.

Our dedication the this breed is undeniable. We strive to produce companions that prove to be loving and loyal members of the family.

Living in Central Illinois on our 22 acre property with a pond, full service grooming shop, and training center has become the perfect life for us and our dogs.

Our dogs are all health tested and certified before we breed a litter.  They all have OFA Hip x-rays, Optigen, GM-1, and yearly CERF eye exams.

We feel it is too important to the future of this breed not to do these health tests.

Our responsibility to these dogs is to match the right puppy to the right family, it is probably the most important thing we can do, next to health testing. The puppy's  energy level and temperament should match your family's lifestyle as closely as possible.

Our puppies are well socialized and temperament tested before going to their new homes.

Portuguese Water Dogs are very special dogs in that they like to be with people, they do not do well if left alone for long periods of time. They are not a breed that can live out in the back yard.

The PWD needs regular grooming and activity. They will not be ignored, and if they are, they will invent ways to get your attention, such as chewing,  digging, and adorably annoying things like, eating all your toilet paper off the roll, and  munching on your tissue box as if it stores a marvelously decidant snack food.

Grooming is a must. It is important to keep an 8 week appointment at the groomer as well as regular brushing at home.

Obedience classes at a reputable training school (not Pet supply superstore) are also very inportant in socializing a young PWD.

These are wonderful dogs that will thrive in the right setting. They will quickly become your best friend, and before you know it, you are afflicted by the "Potato Chip Syndrome", you can't stop at just one.
